Job recruiters' tool

The project

A major job recruiting firm was planning a major rebuild of its position and applicant tracking software. They hired Cooper to do a thorough redesign of the recruiters' component of the software.

The solution

Since recruiters always had numerous positions to fill, with deadlines to meet for each one, we designed the tool such that recruiters repeatedly returned to an overview of all of their open job requisitions, with easily-visible priority information about which requisitions were making timely progress toward a hire, and which were not.

The system also included sophisticated tools for tracking the status of individual applicants to each job.

Full disclosure: This project involved particularly lively collaboration with my design partners. I cannot claim anything in this system as wholly mine and mine alone, but it provides a fair demonstration of the type of work I have done.

What's cool

Because we discovered through research that recruiters were always under time pressure, handling big volumes of phone calls and emails, we streamlined the tool's interactions as much as possible, to enable recruiters to sweep through lists of candidates as quickly and smoothly as possible.

We also learned that recruiters all kept personal files of hot candidates, so we created built-in mechanisms to make it easy to keep track of strong applicants and add them to the queue for appropriate jobs.
